with a quick first look at the weather if our meteorologist lisa argen. >> i had to use that credit card to scrape the ice off. here's a view from mt. tam. it even looks cold out there. we did break a record up in novato where the temperature dropped to 24. the old record was 25. we are still sitting in the mid-and upper 30s closer to the water burks plenty of 20s from gilroy and some of the protected valleys of the east bay. likely tonight we will see the freeze warning and the frost advisory. but for the rest of the morning mid-20s to the low 40s. in the afternoon it will be chilly once again, upper 40s to the lower 50s. that is below average. but in the next couple of days we will warm up and see above-average numbers. i will have that 7 day outlook for you coming up. carolyn. >> thank you, lisa. pucks are going to start dropping in a matter of hours now that the national league lockout is over. kira klapper is live at sharks ice. that's the team's practice facility in san jose. kira, that lockout was more than 100 days so i know the fans are excited about this. >> oh, they are really

kira. >> thanks, lisa. breaking news updating a devastating fire at a nightclub in brazil. it's now one of the deadliest nightclub fires in more than a decade. 245 people have died at the kiss nightclub in the southern city of santa maria. another 200 are injured in the club. it is said to hold as many at 2,000 people. the bodies have been taken to a public gymnasium for identification. the cause of the fire is not yet no one but a band was performing at the club at the time the fire broke out. here in the bay area a violent night on the peninsula results in two shootings, one fatal and one involving a child. police are piecing together details in two different locations within blocks of one another, in menlo park and east palo alto. they also occurred within an hour of each other. in the latest incident a victim died after being shot in the head at capital avenue and bell street. east palo alto police identify the victim as 21-year-old lamont coleman of east palo alto. and just blocks away at a mcdonald's parking lot police also gathered clues in a shooting that left a 24-year-old

, better known as obama care. we get an explanation here tonight from nbc's lisa myers. >> reporter: as a pediatrician, dr. jan mayzell knows all about rising medical costs but she was stunned to discover the cost of her own health insurance is going up a whopping 25% this year. >> i'm impacting my ability to retire because i'm depleting my savings to keep this health insurance. >> reporter: some insurance companies in california including anthem blue cross, aetna and blue shield of california are proposing rate increases of 20% or more for some individual customers. today the california insurance commissioner deemed one proposed group increase unreasonable and accused companies are trying to maximize profits. >> it's a disaster. it explains why we have 6 million to 7 million californians who simply can't afford health insurance and it's not going to get any better. >> reporter: and it's not just california. in florida and ohio, insurers have instituted double-digit rate increases. new york, which unlike california has power to roll back rates has generally held increases below 10%.

look at our weather with meteorologist frances dinglasan in for lisa argen. >> good morning, everyone. here's looking out toward the bay bridge, san francisco and the low clouds in the distance. we've seen some sprinkles during the morning hours. temperatures right now in the 40s and live doppler 7hd tracking the storm over the last few hours, starting to exit the bay area, moving southeast. but during the morning hours we will still get a chance of sprinkles. looking pretty dry right now for the most part. just some cloud cover in the north bay. let's head to the east bay where we are getting light returns and light rain through parts of emeryville right now. i-5 and 580 is where we are getting some light rain. south bay we are starting to see some rain move down toward gilroy. there was some rain earlier in san jose but that's starting to clear up, as well. look for some light rain, as well, over 152. now we will start to see some breaks this afternoon, but rain is in the forecast again this week. i'll let you know when with the accuweather seven-day forecast coming up. carolyn. >>
